Description

Born on March 2, 1942, and died on October 27, 2013, Lewis Allan Reed was a legendary American musician and songwriter. He was the guitarist, vocalist, and chief songwriter for the rock band The Velvet Underground, and he also had a solo career that stretched over fifty years. Even though The Velvet Underground wasn’t a commercial hit while they were active, they later earned a reputation as one of the most influential bands in the underground and alternative rock scenes. Reed’s signature deadpan voice, bold and poetic lyrics, and experimental guitar work were key elements of his long-lasting career.
